This article makes an empirical analysis about digital transformation in organizations. Despite the large amount of information available, many of the market players, companies and professionals who make decisions about the phenomenon, behave as if everything were to discover. This work aims to bring this knowledge to related people and serve as a reference. The analysis is based primarily on data from the annual study series of the Digital Initiatives Center of MIT Sloan. The investigation is structured in three parts. The first one draws the shape of the digital disruption that shows the biggest difference with the traditional business is the pace of doing business and the biggest challenge is experimentation. The second one analyzes the keys that transmit the companies that are being successful in their transformation process. The findings can be grouped into three major areas: leadership, culture and work organization. In the third part, three final conclusions are presented: digital transformation is a systematic process; the process begins by taking action no matter how much the chosen action and there is a virtuous circle that favors the advance from a certain stage.
